Building a Brand, One Cookie at a Time: Sweet Tooth Society
Meet Sweet Tooth Society founder Shavanta Fowler and discover how he turned his passion for baking into a growing business with memorable branding.
Meet the baker behind Sweet Tooth Society
At Sweet Tooth Society, cookies are anything but ordinary. With creative flavors, Southern-inspired recipes, and plenty of personality, founder Shavanta Fowler is putting his own spin on everyone’s favorite sweet treat.
But behind these delicious creations is a story of passion, creativity, and an unexpected entrepreneurial journey. What started as a baking hobby has grown into a small business serving cookie lovers throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. And as Sweet Tooth Society reaches new customers, Shavanta is finding new ways to bring his creative vision to life.
From late-night baking to business owner
Growing up in Georgia, Shavanta was surrounded by Southern cooking and homemade recipes. His grandmother made just about everything from scratch, sparking an appreciation for food that would eventually shape his own creations.
After spending years working in professional kitchens, Shavanta built a career in healthcare operations and management. But when he and his wife became new parents, baking offered a creative outlet during long nights at home.
What began as experimenting with cookie recipes soon turned into something bigger. As more people discovered and connected with his creations, Shavanta saw an opportunity to turn his passion into a business.
Since launching Sweet Tooth Society in 2025, he’s expanded from local markets and pop-ups to catering, corporate orders, and partnerships throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. One of his biggest milestones was establishing a regular presence at Revolving Kitchen, a food hall in Fairview, Texas, where customers can now find his cookies throughout the week.
And he’s not slowing down. Shavanta is also pursuing a Culinary Arts degree, building on his professional experience while sharpening his skills in the kitchen.
Creating connections, one cookie at a time
Shavanta’s menu is full of inventive takes on familiar favorites. From the bestselling Brown Butter Chocolate Chip cookie, finished with a sprinkle of Maldon sea salt, to Stuffed Peach Cobbler and Pumpkin Snickerdoodle, his creations offer customers something new to discover.
But great cookies are only part of the recipe for success. For Shavanta, creating a memorable experience is just as important as what comes out of the oven.
Whether he’s meeting new customers at local markets, welcoming familiar faces, or sharing behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram, he makes an effort to build genuine connections with the people supporting his business.
“People may initially come for the food, but I think the relationship you build with them is what keeps them coming back.”
Packaging that speaks for the brand
As Sweet Tooth Society has expanded, Shavanta has become more intentional about how his business looks and feels to customers. After all, a great cookie can make a lasting impression, but its presentation often makes the first one.
At local markets and pop-ups, Shavanta can introduce himself, share his story, and talk customers through his creations. But with his cookies now available throughout the week at Revolving Kitchen, his branding has an even bigger role to play.
As Shavanta explains:
“At a market or pop-up, I’m standing there and can introduce someone to Sweet Tooth Society myself. At the food hall, the product, packaging and display have to speak for the brand when I’m not there.”
That’s where thoughtful branding and packaging come in. From branded labels to the overall presentation, Shavanta wants every detail to reflect the same creativity and care that goes into his cookies. Avery labels help him create a polished, consistent look while giving him the flexibility to customize packaging for different flavors, seasonal offerings, and special events.
For Shavanta, packaging isn’t just about protecting what’s inside. It’s a way to make Sweet Tooth Society instantly recognizable, whether customers discover his cookies at a food hall, an event, or somewhere new.
Making room for what’s next
As Sweet Tooth Society continues to expand, Shavanta is learning how to balance the creative side of baking with the practical demands of running a business. From managing inventory and fulfilling orders to keeping packaging and labeling consistent, each new stage brings challenges and opportunities to work more efficiently.
Drawing on his professional experience, Shavanta knows that the systems supporting his business need to evolve alongside its changing demands.
It’s a lesson Shavanta has learned firsthand:
“Growth quickly shows you which systems worked when you were smaller but aren’t going to work forever.”
Looking ahead, Shavanta hopes to expand Sweet Tooth Society’s retail presence, grow its catering and corporate business, and build partnerships with universities, organizations, and other brands. He’s also exploring opportunities to create new products beyond cookies as he continues his culinary education.
Start before everything is perfect
For anyone dreaming of turning a passion into a business, Shavanta has one piece of advice:
“Start before everything is perfect.”

He knows firsthand that building a business takes time, and you don’t need to have every detail figured out from day one. Whether it’s your logo, packaging, website, or social media presence, there’s always room to learn, improve, and grow along the way.
What matters most, he says, is showing up consistently, creating a product you’re proud of, and treating people well. Just as importantly, stay open to new ideas and opportunities that might take your business somewhere you never expected.
