Printing Tips for Avery Blank Round Roll Labels

Round roll labels can be more difficult to align since some printers have their detector on the outside edge of the roll. This means it does not detect the label until near the middle, where the round label is widest. As a result, it can mistakenly identify that point as the start of the label, causing misalignment. Below are some general tips, along with additional advice, for printing on round roll labels.

General Printing Tips

  • We recommend test printing on a single label to check alignment and print quality before printing additional labels
  • Check that the size of your label is set correctly (for example, 2" x 4"). If the size is not available, you may need to look for a Custom Size or User Defined setting to change it
  • Check that your Scale is set to 100% or Actual Size is selected
  • Change the Media Type to Matte or Glossy depending on the label material you are using
  • If you notice shifting on the label when it prints, use the Adjust Print Alignment tool in Preview & Print to shift the printing

Round Roll Label Printing Tips

  • If possible, manually move the detector location to the middle of the roll
  • Not all printers allow you to adjust the detector location. If this is the case, you will need to adjust the gap size and top offset to help with centering as best you can. These can generally be found in your Printer Properties.
