We do not have an easy answer to removing permanent marker ink, especially fabrics and surfaces that tend to absorb the ink. Below are a few suggestions/guidelines:
- Old stains will be harder to remove than new stains.
- Test any cleaning solution in a hidden part of the surface/material that has the mark.
- You can try common household solvent like isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or acetone (nail polish remover) but they will tend to ‘spread’ the stain, especially from fabric and other absorbent surfaces.
You can also try a non-solvent stain remover, but we have not tested for this issue in our labs, so we cannot guarantee results.
