It&#8217;s important to always use the template that matches your Avery product. Personally, I usually take a short-cut to designing by going straight to the template from the Avery product page. For most projects, I prefer a blank template because I can upload a complete design and make sure it will be perfectly positioned on my Avery product. The reason I like doing that is because it&#8217;s the best way to print Canva<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> designs on Avery labels, cards, or tags. Blank templates are also great for using with original artwork you make in Adobe Illustrator<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>. Click &#8220;<strong>Customize Design<\/strong>&#8221; to select the template and start personalizing your labels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-add-photos-to-your-picture-labels\">3) Add photos to your picture labels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before I start my project, I usually have a pretty good idea of the image I want to use. It&#8217;s a good idea to put any pictures or photos you think you might want to use somewhere easy to find on your device. I use my download folder when I&#8217;m working on a laptop and a dedicated picture album when I&#8217;m <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/WPD2xMLisxE?si=_MYxGBUihWMimOVt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">using ADPO on my phone<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-upload-photos-for-your-labels\">Upload photos for your labels<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.avery.com\/image\/upload\/web\/blog\/photo-labels-how-to-make-your-own-for-free-online-006\" alt=\"Screenshot of the Avery Design &amp; Print Online editor showing the customization interface for a return address label. In this example, I&#8217;m making photo address labels similar to ones I might send to a huge list of family and friends or my business mailing list. In both cases, adding a lot of unique addresses can be a huge pain if you don&#8217;t know this one simple trick: <strong>Import Data\/Mail Merge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trust me, once you get the hang of using the <strong>Import Data\/Mail Merge<\/strong> feature, it&#8217;s such a game changer for so many projects. For example, I use it for adding names to gift tags and making <a href=\"\/blog\/name-tag-ideas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">name tags for parties and business events<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-adding-text-with-import-data-mail-merge-and-formatting\">Adding text with Import Data\/Mail Merge and formatting<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.avery.com\/image\/upload\/web\/blog\/photo-labels-how-to-make-your-own-for-free-online-009\" alt=\"Screenshot of the Avery Design &amp; Print Online editor showing a customized address label with a photo of a dog. For me, custom printing is much easier, but many of my friends that sell on platforms like Etsy<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> and Shopify<strong><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> love the flexibility of printing on their home or office printers.
