Avery GHS Wizard® Receives OH&S 2021 HazCom Gold Award

Brea, California – May 13, 2021: Avery Products Corporation is pleased to accept the 2021 Hazard Communications gold award for Avery GHS Wizard label software. The award was presented by Occupational Health & Safety magazine (OH&S) in the first annual Industrial Hygiene Awards.

The OH&S Industrial Hygiene awards “honor outstanding product development achievements of health and safety manufacturers whose products or services are considered particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve industrial hygiene.”

The Avery GHS Wizard is an online tool that is built into the Avery Design & Print Online (ADPO) label-editing software. The GHS Wizard, available by subscription, allows users to create compliant GHS chemical labels in under five minutes. With a database of over 300,000 pure, mixed and branded chemicals, the GHS Wizard greatly increases safety labeling efficiency for hazardous chemicals in the workplace.

“We’re very proud to accept this award, and proud of what we’ve delivered with the GHS Wizard,” says Colwin Chan, Marketing Director for the Industrial Business Group at Avery Products Corps. “In the last year we’ve seen a huge influx of cleaning chemicals in every type of facility, from industrial manufacturing to office buildings. During the pandemic, reducing the spread of germs has been critical. However, workers need to be aware of the potential hazards of various cleaning solutions and how to handle them properly and safely. The GHS Wizard allows virtually anyone to quickly and easily create GHS safety labels for workplace chemicals.”

Creating compliant GHS labels for primary and secondary containers helps ensure employees understand the dangers associated with hazardous chemicals in the workplace. With the GHS Wizard, users can enter the CAS number or substance name and the software will autofill the label template with required information, including:

  • Product Identifier
  • Signal Word
  • Hazard Statements
  • Precautionary Statements
  • Pictograms

The GHS Wizard is part of a range of GHS solutions from Avery Industrial, a division of Avery Products Corporation. The advanced GHS Wizard features compliment Avery UltraDuty® GHS label products which are waterproof and designed to withstand chemicals, abrasion, tearing and UV rays. UltraDuty labels are BS5609 Section 2 certified and Section 3 certified with approved printers, which is essential for facilities shipping chemicals overseas.
