After reading a few of the negative reviews I felt compelled to write about my own experience with these name tags. About five minutes ago I was asked to create name tags for a community gathering we are hosting this Friday. I found these name tags in the supply closet and went to the web address listed on the package to access the template. I simply typed in the community name on the first label, then copied and pasted it onto the others and pressed print. That easy. Once I saw which side of the paper the tag would print, I loaded in my name tags and made the required number of tags. The template was super easy to to use. I didn't encounter any alignment issues. In fact, it is taking me longer to type this review than complete my print job. I highly recommend these name tags.

Avery sized this template correctly but did not center it. When you load it up into Wordpad, you'll see the left edge of their boxes lines right up with the very left edge of the page, as indicated by the Wordpad ruler, while the right edge of the boxes only goes out to about 7 1/2 inches.
To get around this, with the template empty, type Ctl + A, selecting the whole page. On the ruler, click and hold the upper pointer and drag it out to the half inch mark. After you release you'll see Avery's boxes centered up where you need them.

Can't add another sheet

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 8 per sheet:

I have been using Word and Avery for many years. Yet I cannot add a second sheet to this template. I followed the instructions which is to just hit the Enter key. This only adds two labels to a second sheet. Hitting Enter again adds two more labels but they are not aligned. I don't know what I am doing wrong but I can't use this template.

On line templates take time

By Nanner08

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 8 per sheet:

I just used the product to make name tags for the first time. I found the background I chose first to be too dark to be useful. This is for a cruise-themed get together, and the blue was too intense.

I switched to just the cruise ship graphic and no problem there. It was easy to resize and position on the badge. After playing with the program a bit, it was easy to change fonts, sizes and font colors.

I did not have a problem with adding additional sheets of labels and having them line up properly. For a free program, this was pretty decent! Even though I don't use Word on my computer, it was not a problem.

I did find I had to open an account on the site to save my work for later, but that's fine.

Bad template for use with other programs

By suzzee

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 8 per sheet:

As a designer I do NOT ever design anything in Word. To me a template is something I can bring into any program to use a a guide. This should be a eps or pdf file for that purpose. There should be a choice between one of those options and a Word file.
To get around this, I opened the Word "template", selected all, and turned on the "borders-all". Then I printed the file to a PDF and then brought the PDF in to InDesign to design my labels.

So disappointed in this product

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 8 per sheet:

I was put in charge of organizing an event at the last minute. Due to the short turn-around, I have not been able to begin working on name badges until now, which is 2 days before the event for 500 people. This template is the worst excuse for a template that I have ever seen. Only the first page is correct. If you try to copy it to other pages, it messes up and puts the bottom two labels on the next page, so you get 3 pages instead of 2 and the 2nd and 3rd pages are not right. I am buried with a myriad of other things that I need to get done, but instead I am fiddling with this stupid template trying to get it to work. I do not have time to worry about this sort of thing. I'll admit that I'm already stressed, but printing labels shouldn't add to my stress. Ordinarily, I am very satisfied with Avery labels and templates, but this experience has me re-evaluatiing the quality of Avery products.
