I customize Avery Name Badges for any and all events -- from mixers and volunteer events, to big conferences and holiday parties. The ability to carry an event theme through to custom badges is a plus. In additional names and titles, I like including logos, event graphics/colors, team numbers, and event icons to call out leaders, seasoned volunteers, and key staff.

As a designer I do NOT ever design anything in Word. To me a template is something I can bring into any program to use a a guide. This should be a eps or pdf file for that purpose. There should be a choice between one of those options and a Word file.
To get around this, I opened the Word "template", selected all, and turned on the "borders-all". Then I printed the file to a PDF and then brought the PDF in to InDesign to design my labels.

This template worked for me

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 8 per sheet:

I used this template to create labels for treat bags, using a MacBook Air. I first created it in Pages, then exported to a PDF. From there I exported to a JPEG, cropped, saved and copied and pasted onto the labels.

wont work without buying microsoft office, and the online template was difficult to use and imprecise. i ended up just making my own template in photoshop. took me about half the time it took to navigate the poorly designed program provided by the developer

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 8 per sheet:

I have used other Avery templates with no problem. This one is very hard to use. I could not use Microsoft Word with it at all. Couldn't figure out how to find any clip art that would paste onto label. Started over, using Avery template online. After designing a label I was happy with, I went to print it on the appropriate Avery label sheet. Design would not align with the labels on the sheet. Extremely frustrating. I spent a number of hours trying to use this product to print at home, and finally gave up. I don't recommend this at all. Wish I could get my money back for the package of labels I purchased!!

Stop Forcing People to Use the Online Print Option!

I don't care about your online design tool. And anyone who does name tags on a regular basis avoids Word like the plague. Just bring back the usable templates for Publisher and list the measurements of the label, the margins and the gaps between labels on the "instruction" sheet already included in the package - why did you stop providing those figures??? You're "Easy Printing Instructions" are basically useless for those of us who don't want/need to use your design tool. You've succeeded in making your product WAY more frustrating than it's worth.
