even though these are name labels - they were great for marking information to old VHS tapes I was converting to digital to let the owner of the tapes know what they would be cross referencing

Online & Download Templates are no good

By Anynomous

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 2 per 4x6 sheet:

Tried the online template and that didn't work using mail merge as it added random spaces between the letters of the name. Then tried the downloaded version and why its called a template I don't know, because it opens in word but there is no layout to see where to input anything and it doesn't automatically assign the template form for printing purposes. Highly disappointed...

Nothing wrong with this templet!

I was amazed at the review where the user indicated they could not move the curser off center. If you use word at all, it is pretty simple. Just right click the box, chose "cell alignment" and select the type of alignment you want. I found this to be a great templet and it worked fine. It might be easier to use if you could print more than two at a time. Or maybe that paper is out there and I have not found it it. I'm glad I don't know a whole lot of them for that reason.

I was a little worried after reading the first two reviews, but I downloaded the template into Microsoft Word, clicked on Table then Table Properties, selected cell and changed the alignment to bottom and was able to print the company name at the bottom of the label, just where I wanted it to be. Very easy.

Grrrrrrr

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Label, 2 per 4x6 sheet:

I downloaded an Avery template a few days ago, and was very pleased with it. I need name tags for a meeting of an organization I belong to, and I bought blank templates that say they use Avery 5147. The little picture on the package shows a company name in the top left, and then a hand-written name in the name tag.

That was exactly what I wanted! I wanted our organization's name on the top, and then have attendees write in their own names. But the darn template won't allow it. It only positions the cursor right in the very middle of the name tag, and no matter what I've tried will NOT let me place anything on the top of the name tag as I want to - will ONLY let me put something right smack in the middle of the tag - the place where the name would go. Makes the template totally useless for what I wanted.
