I teach an after school program in Newspaper photography for 4th and 5th graders. After the program is completed the entire school has a newspaper written by students with photography by students and illustrated by students. One of the things the students love best is that they get press passes to wear around the school when following a story. I make their press passes with these badge inserts and their plastic sleeves.....it has a photo of the student, their grade, and the job they have...reporter, photographer, illustrator. Your Avery Design and Print Program makes it easy for me to get this job done....Thank you!

I read the positive reviews for this template, and I thought I'd easily be able to figure it out, but alas, I'm at a total loss! I created background images (insert > picture > Text wrapping > Behind text), but the text flows over the solid couloured background images, making it very messy looking, and names get cut off.

There must be a trick to this that I'm just not getting. I wish there were a tutorial online, somewhere (if someone knows where it is, please post!). Argh. I'm sure it's a good product if one knows how to use it, but it's taking me a long time to go nowhere with this template!

Is there an Adobe template available somewhere (InDesign, Ilustrator, Photoshop)? Please advise.

These are exactly what I ordered and exactly what I needed. No surprises here, they work great, line-up great in the printer and are overall pretty good quality.

      DO NOT BUY

      By mpark

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Insert, 8 per sheet, 5390:

There is NO InDesign compatible template anywhere on the web for these labels, even though this Avery page says one is available. I cannot find the margin dimensions anywhere, and when I use their templates these badges NEVER print correctly and the fonts and colors I need are not available. Do not buy!

Labels great but feed in printer poorly

      By Kate

      from Portland, Maine

      Pros

      • Nice Quality
      • Template Matches Well

      Cons

      • Feed Poorly In Printer

      Best Uses

This review is from AVERY Name Badge Insert, 8 per sheet, 5390:

I like the quality of these labels: they tear from the sheet easily and are a nice thickness. However, I was VERY disappointed that I wasted 8 full sheets of labels (64 labels, out of a pack of 160) because they fed poorly in my printer, making the template margins and spacing "off". That's 40% of the product wasted. If the top row is off by 1/8", the rest will be off by the same amount.
I've never had this feed problem with any other Avery label (or any other brand) in my printer (an HP OfficeJet 6700). I solved it by printing one page of name tags at a time and closing the file in between. I had 10 pages of name tags, so what a waste of my time. This is the only Avery product I wouldn't recommend.
