Tips:
1. Print front & back text in side by side boxes/columns, fold at center for a single label. If you print on 2 rows, one of them will be upside down. (Didn't make this mistake, but nearly did...)
2. Leave the setting to print in Landscape.
3. Set the document to print from the manual tray, so if using a networked printer it won't print someone else's document on the Avery sheet you put into the main paper drawer (have learned this the hard way in the past.)
4. Print a test page on 8.5x11-inch paper with the 8.5 inch leading to see how it will print if you feed the Avery paper the way they indicate (with the 8.5 inch edge leading). It didn't work for me. On our Kyocera printer/scanner/copier, I needed to feed the document in face down and side edges leading to line up the text on the tab inserts.

Tried for a couple of hours using the online template at Avery site (it printed landscape with no way to change), trying the template in MS Word 2011 for Mac, Pages and trying to create a custom template in Word --- absolutely nothing worked. Also tried the pdf idea from another reviewer but couldn't get that working. The ONLY thing that worked - with a glitch - was to use the template included in Word 2011 - Avery Standard, Hanging Folder Inserts 1/5 Cut. It will let you put in 10 tabs on the left, not 20 (that is, it only prints 2 across not 4). So I printed the 10, reversed the paper and printed the second 10 on the other side. What a pain! Avery, you can do better than this and please don't forget about the Mac users. We print and make purchases too! I can't even select my OS or software from your drop down lists. I'm using OS Mavericks, MS Word 2011 for Mac

Hanging Folder Insert 11136

Pros

    Cons

    • Hard To Navigate

    Best Uses

    • Organizing Data

This review is from AVERY Hanging Folder Insert, 11136:

The design program should be easy to navigate and when it says change all, it should indeed change all. Instead, it only changes one. That was the very first issue. The second issue is the printing issue - I have wasted more time on trying to get the layout right and its still trying to print in landscape mode. Ive done what other reviewers have suggested. Ive done everything. I am not computer illiterate. Its very frustrating that something that should take less than 5 minutes has been so time consuming and is still not done. Sadly I will not be purchasing anything from avery again with the hopes that their program will make everything look nice, neat, and organized. If you have a product made for laser and ink printers then gear a template that actually works with the printers or write better directions on clearly setting something up manually. As it stands now, it does not work.

    Excellent Labels

    By MK

This review is from AVERY Hanging Folder Insert, 11136:

I have been quite happy with these labels for all of our files at work. I have used them for years. We have a lot of paperwork going through the department so this helps GREATLY to keep things sorted & organized. It won't work on our big copier but it works great on my desktop printer.

    HORRIBLE

    By Frustrated to no end

    from Seattle, WA

This review is from AVERY Hanging Folder Insert, 11136:

I used this template and the Tab Inserts for years. I'm not sure what has changed but try as one might, and we did for days!, we cannot get it to work any longer. Very frustrating to say the least. Customer Service directed us to their online template which was a painstaking process and produced the same print-out problem we already had.
