I purchased Avery file folder labels (5201) to use on the weight plates of my exercise machine. I know it sounds crazy, but I wanted printer quality numerals on small labels, and as my handwriting is pathetic, this seemed a good choice. I downloaded the free software template (7 labels to a sheet), opened it in OFFICE, picked font and size, justified and spaced to my needs, and the labels came out looking truly professional. The whole process took all of ten minutes, including the printing. My only complaint is that I had to reenter the font choice and size for each label because as I moved forward, the font would revert back to the default choice. However, this may be an issue with OFFICE and not the template. It is likely there is a way around this, but perhaps I am not savvy enough with OFFICE to have figured it out.

Template downloaded easily, I found that what worked for me was to use the Open option and then save it to my template directory in Word. Like many others I had trouble getting the formatting to stick. Then a bolt of lightning--this is a table! All I had to do to keep the formatting was to insert rows. The next hurdle, however, was that the font was way too small for my label preference. I have always used 16 pt. This messed up the line height/spacing. Best I could manage was 14 pt, so I settled. I didn't have the same issues as others did getting the last one to print since the last two were blank on my table. My suggestion: plan on this and insert a blank label. Less expensive than wasting a couple of pages trying to fight city hall. This was a struggle but after a couple of hours I finally got it. I didn't try this website or find the template right away, but once I did it helped a lot. Thought I was saving money, but in manhours boy was I wrong. However, having done the work, I now have this task nailed for the next few years.

Template doesn't work

By Lady Writer

I like the 5202 labels but had to make my own template. I wasted a lot of labels trying to make the Avery template work.

I got a package of 5202 labels. I have a newer printer & have never done labels before. I went to the Avery website and downloaded a template. Man, was this "easy" and fast. I'm glad I did this. I make picture frames and put my contact info on the labels to put them on the back of my frames. I'm having fun now, have never printed anything but full sheets of paper. The frames are " RUFF " Cedar & I'm also doing some that are much " Smoother ".

            Thank you
