To be perfectly honest, I initially attempted to format my address labels using this template without following all of the printing instructions. Concerned that solely using the template with MS Word's default printing settings would result in formatting issues (i.e. alignment, etc.), I re-read the "Basic Printing Tips" on the back one of the sheets of labels and noticed that more help regarding printing issues could be found at "http://avery.com/printingtips"

I opened the "Basic Printing Tips" .pdf document and found further detailed instructions under the heading, "Avery Templates in Microsoft Word." It was there I realized that my initial assumption regarding printing setting was incorrect and that one is supposed to do the following:
In the menu bar:

>Click on "Tools"
>Follow: "Letters and Mailings"
>Click on "Envelopes and Labels"

Once that menu window is displayed, all you have to do is:
>Click "Labels" tab
>Click "Options" button
>Under Printer Information
>Select "Laser and ink jet"
>Under "Label Information":
>Change the "Label products" setting to "Avery standard"
>Scroll through "Product number" list and select the appropriate product number
>Note: The "Product number" refers to the 4-digit template number rather than the 5-digit package number
>Click "OK"
>Click "New Document"

...and viola! It automatically adjusts the whole sheet and address label fields to the correct size for your particular label sheet. Now all that's left to do is create!

I've been using these labels for a very long time. Once you could simply pull up multiple Templates in MS Word. Now you have few choices available, including no blank templates (which I prefer), and when you take the extra time to make them blank yourself, they still don't print right and you end up wasting money on pages.
Also, when you try to go through this website and download the correct blank template, they try to force the ask toolbar with the template download. This is almost as bad as forced McAffee downloads. I'm tired of big business making things harder and not easier.

Avery used to be so simple to use. You put in the label number in and the template came up. You put in one address and when you wanted to print the sheet it put the address on all the other labels. Now you have to navigate all over gods green earth to get it to fill the template with the same addresses.
Why did you change something that was so simple and easy to use?

I'm using the Avery 8660 clear labels and needed the template. The labels are absolutely wonderful and although they say they're for inkjet, they work just fine in our laser. We had no problems with alignment and the template was dead on. The only issues I had was every time I'd add text to a label, I'd switch the font and then the font size. When I went to the next label, I had to set the font and font size all over again. I also had to click Center for text for each and every label, rather than just doing them all at once. Every time I edited a label, wherever I was in Word (ie, View), it'd go back to Home. This might be an issue with Office 2007 though and not the templates themselves.

Regardless, I was able to print centered text using the template and it was dead on. In Word, if it showed the text filled the whole individual label, in real life, it filled the whole individual label. I was very impressed with the alignment of the template. I thought it'd be off a little bit and I'd have to play with margins to get it perfectly aligned, but nope, first try and it just worked!

Ignore previous comments made yesterday. The problem wasn't software - it was the printer. A paper guide had become loose and out of place, so the paper (label sheet) was not feeding properly. Husband fixed printer. Now everything is working properly! Thanks.
