To be perfectly honest, I initially attempted to format my address labels using this template without following all of the printing instructions. Concerned that solely using the template with MS Word's default printing settings would result in formatting issues (i.e. alignment, etc.), I re-read the "Basic Printing Tips" on the back one of the sheets of labels and noticed that more help regarding printing issues could be found at "http://avery.com/printingtips"

I opened the "Basic Printing Tips" .pdf document and found further detailed instructions under the heading, "Avery Templates in Microsoft Word." It was there I realized that my initial assumption regarding printing setting was incorrect and that one is supposed to do the following:
In the menu bar:

>Click on "Tools"
>Follow: "Letters and Mailings"
>Click on "Envelopes and Labels"

Once that menu window is displayed, all you have to do is:
>Click "Labels" tab
>Click "Options" button
>Under Printer Information
>Select "Laser and ink jet"
>Under "Label Information":
>Change the "Label products" setting to "Avery standard"
>Scroll through "Product number" list and select the appropriate product number
>Note: The "Product number" refers to the 4-digit template number rather than the 5-digit package number
>Click "OK"
>Click "New Document"

...and viola! It automatically adjusts the whole sheet and address label fields to the correct size for your particular label sheet. Now all that's left to do is create!

I've been using these labels for a very long time. Once you could simply pull up multiple Templates in MS Word. Now you have few choices available, including no blank templates (which I prefer), and when you take the extra time to make them blank yourself, they still don't print right and you end up wasting money on pages.
Also, when you try to go through this website and download the correct blank template, they try to force the ask toolbar with the template download. This is almost as bad as forced McAffee downloads. I'm tired of big business making things harder and not easier.

I was trying to just download one template, and it took me 30 minutes to try to figure out want was going on this website. I was forced to upload some huge avery app that I did not want. When I found the template I wanted (by searching Google) I finally uploaded some garbage file that came out blank when I opened it in Illustrator. Hey avery, (if that's who you really are... How about a page that lets you choose which template the user needs, which platform and then click download. What a mess you have instead.

I resent all the junk that Microsoft includes with its labels, so I tried to get this as a simple basic label. I did not read carefully, and downloaded their spyware installer with it, that tries to hijack your browser. Eulalyzer found an elevated level of concern in the Eula, so I went back and found a way to download just the template. This is what gives freeware a bad name.

I don't know why I keep coming back to try and print labels from this site. There was a time a few years back when it actually worked. There is some major glitch that makes the labels and program incompatible with computer programs. Once again I wasted a couple of hours of my time.

Please please please fire your marketing and website teams. I am a long time customer and WAS happy to pay a premium for Avery products. Now, creating an account, downloading software instead of the advertised Word document - this is downright DECEPTIVE. You already have my money... what's the deal????
