I can't understand all the negative reviews. Using the downloadable Windows installer for my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit machine, it works like a charm. It could be slightly more intuitive; however, it is easy to figure out if you ever used any type of labeling or greeting card software in the past (just two of many I've bought and used are Art Explosion Pro, Hallmark software, etc). Not quite as robust as Art Explosion, of course, but for free software it is quite the deal.

The program does allow me to save my address label projects (have not tried a greeting card yet, but will update once I do). It does allow reopening saved project files with no problem other than having to look at the bottom center of the Open a Saved Project tab screen once the program launches to see the correct link (middle center defaults to your online Avery account - not a deal breaker for me either way, but do prefer local machine storage as I backup regularly via Macrium Reflect free edition and Google drive).

Also, truthfully, the program does take a little longer to save and open a project than it really should, as I am using an AMD FX-6300 MHz processor, which normally blazes through whatever I through at it...this is the first program that has a several second delay when saving and opening, as well as when printing. But for free, can't complain too much.

I was ready to run when I saw the reviews, but past experience (about 8 years ago I think) with Avery software helped take a gamble, and it was well worth the roll of the dice. And did I mention, it is free?

This software is missing features that were available in DesignPro. You can no longer specify where, on the physical page, the printing should start. You can no longer specify to print multiple copies of a given label on the same page. I am currently shopping for an alternative and am open to suggestions. In the meantime, I have to keep one computer on Windows 7 just to print labels.

This review is from Avery Design & Print:

While people who have no problem saving their documents to the cloud, or who have not used DesignPro may have no issues with Design&Print, for those of us who have used and loved DesignPro, this is a decided step backward. There is increased streamlining, but at a cost of versatility. I have spent years perfecting my labels in DesignPro - and was able to adapt what I made to other media, sizes and shapes, and I cannot duplicate them within Design&Print for new label sizes that are not available in DesignPro. I have purchased licenses to use certain fonts, and even though they are installed on my computer, Design&Print cannot access them and provides a very abbreviated list of fonts to choose from - none of which are satisfactory for my needs.
The versatility for printing is just not there in Design&Print that was there in DesignPro.
I am very, very disappointed in this program, and cannot help but think it would be easier to incorporate new label designs and shapes into DesignPro. Please take this request to heart and run with it! DesignPro was so much the better program than Design&Print - there is simply no comparison.

And before someone suggests I should just download the template, I did - Word is almost impossible to work with for the labels I am using - the template is almost useless within Word. I spent 3 hours trying to transfer what is already in DesignPro for a 2" round label with 12 on a sheet to Word for a label with 9 on a sheet for 2.5" labels. I am not a novice, and if I found it difficult, I cannot imagine what true novices must feel in attempting to use even a small graphic in a label.

Also, I could not submit this review without giving this software a star. In my opinion, it does not even deserve that.

We have always been a solid Avery products user here at our company with no issues. Now they have changed from the Microsoft Word Add-in to their own product at which first we were excited about it then came nothing except for printer issues printing the text out of alignment every time and the few times we did manage to get a good printout it would revert to printing wrong again. We are done with Avery until they fix their printing issues which I am hearing many companies and people.

              Design and Print is Garbage

Most missed feature is a Copy/Cut and Paste functionality that actually is fully Windows compatible. It is pretty useless not to be able to (for instance) copy from Design and Print and paste (for instance) into WORD. The ability to cut and paste only works INSIDE Design and Print...which is useless.
