I can't understand all the negative reviews. Using the downloadable Windows installer for my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit machine, it works like a charm. It could be slightly more intuitive; however, it is easy to figure out if you ever used any type of labeling or greeting card software in the past (just two of many I've bought and used are Art Explosion Pro, Hallmark software, etc). Not quite as robust as Art Explosion, of course, but for free software it is quite the deal.
The program does allow me to save my address label projects (have not tried a greeting card yet, but will update once I do). It does allow reopening saved project files with no problem other than having to look at the bottom center of the Open a Saved Project tab screen once the program launches to see the correct link (middle center defaults to your online Avery account - not a deal breaker for me either way, but do prefer local machine storage as I backup regularly via Macrium Reflect free edition and Google drive).
Also, truthfully, the program does take a little longer to save and open a project than it really should, as I am using an AMD FX-6300 MHz processor, which normally blazes through whatever I through at it...this is the first program that has a several second delay when saving and opening, as well as when printing. But for free, can't complain too much.
I was ready to run when I saw the reviews, but past experience (about 8 years ago I think) with Avery software helped take a gamble, and it was well worth the roll of the dice. And did I mention, it is free?

This software is missing features that were available in DesignPro. You can no longer specify where, on the physical page, the printing should start. You can no longer specify to print multiple copies of a given label on the same page. I am currently shopping for an alternative and am open to suggestions. In the meantime, I have to keep one computer on Windows 7 just to print labels.

This review is from Avery Design & Print:
After replacing my computer, I found this pathetic, poorly designed, grossly inadequate apology for a tool is now the only product available to maintain my company's business cards, postcard flyers, and greeting card mailers. DesignPro is a great program. This replacement has only limited reproduction of DesignPro's capabilities. .ZDL files have to be "imported", then saved as .avery files; fonts are missing; special characters don't work correctly; if there is a superscript/subscript capability, I couldn't find it; the user interface is nightmarish for a graphics designer with 40 years experience - God help anyone with little or no experience.
Fortunately I was able to find a web site with the old DesignPro download file, which I have now squirreled away in a VERY safe place. Contact me if you need a copy.
This review is from Avery Design & Print:
I have been printing dues cards for the past 7 or 8 years, using Avery 38871. Using Windows 10 which some how removed DesignPro. I tried Design & Print and when I tried to use my previous .zdl files, kept getting "can't use image" message.I can edit my previous files but as soon as I try to print, I get the error message. I found an older download of DesignPro 5.4 on my computer, installed it and it works as before. Should have DesignPro available on your site.

Bought the label package. Download is cumbersome. Too much time just to print labels.

It used to be easy to make labels using Word. This program is not at all intuitive and makes it very time-consuming and frustrating to just make a few simple labels. Horrible waste of time!

Merchant response: We definitely understand that our new program may not be easier for everyone and we do apologize for any frustration. However, we're always trying to make our software better and appreciate the input you and many others have provided. This is why we're working on a new, redesigned version and hopefully that may be better to your liking.
You can also always get in touch with us by using the "Help" section above and giving us a call or using our live chat. If you need assistance converting your older .zdl files we may be able to help you with that as well.
