Family Newsletter
Extra! Extra! Get Your Family Newsletter!
If your family is like most, you’re spread far and wide, and you don’t get to see each other as often as you’d like. But not getting together doesn’t have to mean not staying in touch. How about creating a newsletter for your family and friends? If it sounds daunting, don’t worry. With Avery Brochures, you don’t have to be a professional to put together a newsletter that your family and friends will love. Here are some simple ideas to help you get started.

Decide on a Masthead

Think of what you’d like to name your family newsletter. Consider using your family name in the title. For example, “The Smith Family Gazette,” or “The Norton News” keeps the newsletter personal and sound professional. This will greet your family members every time they receive your newsletter.

Make It Newsworthy

Think about topics that are worth talking about. You’ll probably want to include important events such as engagements, weddings, births, anniversaries, and graduations. Keep it interesting with vacation stories and photos. And who doesn’t want to hear updates on all the kids? You can also keep everyone up-to-date with contact information such as new addresses and phone numbers for family members who have moved. Encourage your family members to send you information that they would like to see in the newsletter as well.

Share Some Knowledge

Spice up your newsletter with other helpful ideas. You may want to include a favorite recipe, share some helpful hints, or even spotlight a family member in each issue with photos and history.

Create the Newsletter

Once you have all your content, you’ll need to format the newsletter. Make it easy to read with wide margins and short paragraphs, and use no more than two or three fonts to keep it reader friendly. When you’re ready to print, use Avery Brochures to print them out. The quality paper will reproduce your photos vividly, and since it’s a self-mailer, you won’t need to envelopes. Just seal and send!

Once your newsletter goes out, get some feedback and see how well it’s received. You may decide to publish the newsletter monthly, quarterly, or yearly—whatever works best for you. The most important thing is making the effort to continue to stay in touch—and your family will highly anticipate the next edition!
