What was life like before self-adhesive labels? Back in the day, labels didn’t automatically stick—you either had to use a glue pot to apply the label, or moisten the pre-applied dry glue with water first. In 1935, R. Stanton (“Stan”) Avery changed all that. His vision for an easy-to-use, self-adhesive label came to market with the commercial introduction of Kum-Kleen labels, and the modern label was born.
Stan Avery’s pioneering spirit led to the creation of major industries and a company which has grown into a Fortune 500 corporation, Avery Dennison. As part of Avery Dennison, the Avery brand continues the tradition inspired by our founder—delivering innovative solutions to make life easier. Take the Avery Easy Peel® Labels with Pop-up Edge™. There’s no need to search for the label’s edge—just bend the label sheet and the label edges pop up for fast and easy peeling. And with Avery Labels featuring TrueBlock® Technology, consumers can reuse file folders and mailing materials by completely covering up old labels and distracting marks underneath. Labels have sure come a long way, and our relentless commitment to meeting the needs of consumers continues.
Let’s stick together
Something exciting happens when consumers get a hold of Avery Labels. Because it’s not just about our products—it’s what consumers can do to make them uniquely their own. We were the first to offer label templates in Microsoft® Word. We expanded our offerings to include thousands of templates available through software programs and online at avery.com so consumers can customize, design and create professional-looking projects right from their own desktop. And now with free tools such as Avery Design & Print Online with no download required, it’s even easier for consumers to bring their own ideas to life.
Making a difference in the community
Since its beginning, Avery has always made philanthropy a priority. One area of focus is lending support for education. Avery is honored to be the first and only school and office supply manufacturer to join Box Tops for Education®, a nationwide fundraising program dedicated to helping America’s schools raise funds to get the things they need—from books and school supplies to playground equipment and computers. Consumers can now find Box Tops coupons on over 1,000 specially marked Avery products.
