Not impressed

By Frustratedmom

from Corner brook, nl, Canada

This review is from Avery Light & Stretchable Fabric Transfers:

I have bought many Avery products and for the most part have been very pleased. I used the light stretchable fabric one today and it won't transfer. The package that I bought also came with a damaged sheet. I won't be buying Avery anymore.

I used this to create custom shirts for my nieces and nephews as a gift. The directions were easy to follow. I made five shirts and only had problems with one, but I think that it's the difference in the t-shirt material. The one I struggled with was the most expensive material. ? This video was great when I struggled because it said, "If you have problems peeling it, reapply heat." That helped a lot. It still tore a little, but it looks okay. This a great way to make custom t-shirts that are cheap and easy but have a special value to them.

The only thing I did notice is the printed instruction times varied about 15 seconds to 1 minute from the video. The paper said 1 minute, she said 45 seconds. The paper said 2-3 minutes, and she said 2. It's not that big of a deal, but I think the written instructions were more accurate with time.

I have used 2 sets of transfer sheets. Normal and stretchable. I both cases the images (after initial washing)cracked and ruined the shirts. I now have 7 different t-shirts with unwearable images. I am very upset.

This is the third time I've had to type this in. Not happy! Unless one is using the Avery transfer sheets right away, forget it. After a while, the top sheet is almost impossible to remove (light colored fabrics). For dark fabrics, the transer sheet starts to curl as soon as it gets under the heat press so it is impossible to put it on the fabric at all. We've wasted packs of transfer sheets to get one item finished. Not happy with the $$$ we've had to spend. We wrote to you after the dark transfer papers started curling and even sent a photo along with the letter. Never received a response.
How about heat times for those of us who own heat presses?
