How to Open a DesignPro Project in Avery Design & Print

It's easy to import saved DesignPro projects in Avery Design & Print.

If you downloaded the Avery Design & Print software to your computer, choose the Open a Saved Project tab and click at the bottom of the screen to Load Project.

Browse for your DesignPro PC .zdl file or your DesignPro Mac .avery file on your computer and click Open.

Once your project opens, you can then customize your design.

Save or Print your project using Avery Design & Print. If you save your project to a free MyAvery account, you can access your projects from any computer or tablet while online.

Please note:

- Some projects will not transfer completely. Data that was imported into a DesignPro project (such as a mail merge) will not carry over to Avery Design & Print. The layout for your project should transfer and then you can use the easy drag-and-drop mail merge in Avery Design & Print Online to import your data.

- Images from the DesignPro clip art gallery may not import, but you can choose a new image from the extensive gallery in Avery Design & Print.

- Serial barcodes and Date/Time stamps will not import, and will need to be re-created. Barcodes that are not supported by Avery Design & Print will not import, but you will be able to generate QR Codes with Avery Design & Print.

Mighty complicated but has potential

By Uncle Wiz

from Ephrata, PA

This review is from How to Open a DesignPro Project in Avery Design & Print:

I have no trouble opening zdl files so although this software can do it, learning how to navigate remains a problem. The old software Design Pro 5 is much easier to use. Too bad it went away. With Design & Print, you can spend a whole day fumbling for the correct commands without success. For instance, how can I compose one label and copy it to the remaining blank labels or successive sheets without doing it with tabs one-at-a-time? I have been disappointed but still hope this gets easier. Avery has the best labels so let's go back to Design Pro 5 after solving the issues.

Been using DesignPro for years, loved it. New computer... can't get my software anymore??? Your new software sucks. Crashes constantly, doesn't open old files correctly. Forcing me to recreate years of work. I will gladly PAY for the software if you make DesignPro5 available! I'm ready to move on to another company because you made the worst ever business change.

I have used DesignPro for years. File labels, business cards, address labels, etc etc. I have saved designs on my computer - and now I'm told that the CLIPART WON'T IMPORT!! but I can choose from new images in Avery's 'extensive' collection? (which it isn't) I have designed a logo for my business which is totally dependent on this.SO I DON'T WANT NEW - I WANT THE SAME AS BEFORE. How incredibly shortsighted and unprofessional of you.

          Wow! I'm so disappointed.

I've been using Design Pro for years (made hundreds of labels and recommended to dozens of clients) and had to uninstall and couldn't reinstall, so we installed Design & Print - what a mistake! The old software was antiquated and needed some updates, but this overhaul is a disappointment entirely. I still can't figure out how to create a custom size label and a lot of our old labels are having issues opening in the new program. Looks like they tried to make it more user friendly, but instead the opposite. And the online help is horrible. Looking for new software after 10 years plus!

Please Give Us Back Design Pro

I have used Design Pro for years and it worked great. Now I have a new computer and your new program will not open my old label files. Why do you change something that worked?? Don't tell me to do a Live Chat. I tried. No one answers. Is there a place you can still download the old program? This does not make me happy!
