Cards and Tags FAQs

1. Can I print on both sides of my cardstock product?

Almost all Avery card products can be printed on both sides, with Clean Edge Business Cards being the only exception. Good news—we redesigned the Clean Edge Business Cards in 2007 to make them two-side printable (not applicable on Glossy Clean Edge Business Cards #8859). Look for Clean Edge Business Card packages marked “Two-Side Printable” to ensure you can print on both the front and back.

Glossy Clean Edge Business Cards #8859 have a special coating and are designed to be printed on one side only. These cards are the only Clean Edge Business Cards that are not two-side printable.

To learn how to create two-sided business cards, view our Avery Two-Side Printable Clean Edge Business Cards Demo.

2. Are the envelopes that come with Avery Greeting Cards printable?

We do not recommend printing on envelopes. Envelopes can very easily skew and get caught in any printer which can cause damage. We recommend trying mailing labels. Avery manufactures both standard recipient and return address labels in white and clear.

3. Can I print to the edge on Avery business cards?

Most Avery business cards are manufactured with 10 per page with each card touching the card surrounding it which does not allow for print to the edge capability. Avery does manufacture business cards for consumers who prefer to print an entire image on their business cards and these cards are manufactured with 8 per page without any of the cards touching each other which allows for full bleed printing capability.

4. How do I print my brochures, business cards, half-fold greeting cards, laminated ID cards, postcards, index cards, rotary cards or tent cards?

Took over TWO HOURS to set-up a 3265 Greeting Card template for printing! No instructions on where to place image in order to get accurate printed result - only way is "trial and error", wasting both time and ink! Finally gave up on Design and Print and downloaded the Word template, then had to figure out that the images both had to be placed at the bottom of the sheet individually and the paper turned around in order to get a printed card where all the images were rightside-up and in the proper places. AWFUL SOFTWARE!

      Font change made me crazy!

      By Jack

This review is from AVERY Cards and Tags FAQs:

Business card project. Design software was reasonably user friendly. Was happy with the final design. Printed a test page on copy paper and it looked fine. Printed a page of cards (Avery 8371) OK except each row of print was about 1/8th higher than the previous card row. Not good! Printed a second page and the font had changed to a font I'd never seen before and did not like!!! I had used Arial font for the whole card, and the font that printed was totally different. How does that happen??? Unacceptable. Tried for 20 minutes to Live Chat and kept getting a "live Chat Unavailable, try later" message. Finally was able to log in to Live Chat, then got a "Please wait while you are connected to an agent" message. After 20 more minutes with no agent connected, I quit. Overall a very frustrating experience.

i FOUND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET TO THE PRINT (NOW) SCREEN. YOU MUST BE LOGGED ONTO AVERY'S WEBSITE TO PRINT. WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO TRY TO PRINT A SAMPLE OF 10 BUSINESS CARDS, THE VERY FIRST CARD ON THE PRINTED PAGE (UPPER LEFT CORNER) WAS EXACTLY AS I HAD DESIGNED IT. CARDS # 2-10 HAD MERGED TWO OF THE LINES ON THE BUSINESS CARD INTO A SINGLE ILLEGIBLE BLOB - SO I HAVE TO PRINT ONE PAGE TO PRODUCE ONE BUSINESS CARD AND THE REMAINING 9 CARDS ARE TRASH. I WILL RETURN THIS PRODUCT. DONT BUY IT. I purchased print your own cards 10 years ago and it was extremely easy and straightforward. AVERY? NOT

The expensive labels measure 9 inches - end to end.
The printed version measure 8.25 inches.
              Very poor results!!

Design and Print is not user friendly

              By Calbob

              from Glendale, CA

This review is from AVERY Cards and Tags FAQs:

Design and Print software (or on line) is terrible. Very badly designed, at least as it applies to Avery 8315/Greeting Cards. Apparently you have to print each image separately in a project that contains more than one image. I previously used Avery Design Pro which this software replaced. At least the old software let you print multiple images.
Avery, you should do better than this.
