How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?

You can try these things:

  • Be sure you are using a genuine Avery product – non-Avery products are not optimized for our templates, and are not manufactured to our specifications.
  • Test print. Print first on a sheet of plain paper to determine which direction to feed in your printer and to check your design and alignment.
  • Printer settings. When you click Print, look in the Properties options in the print dialog box. Adjust Paper Type to Labels and Print Quality to Best. If your printer doesn't have a Labels setting, choose Heavyweight or Cardstock.
  • Feed once. Don't re-print on the same sheet of labels.
  • For additional help, go to our Help Center and choose Printing under General Help.

I'm using Windows 10, Word and selected in labels Avery L7161. Everything appeared fine on the screen but when printing the top row of labels was OK but all the rest had 'crept' up the page, making the labels useless. After trying various different things, I went to Print, page setup, Layout where I noticed there was a measurement set for headers and footers. I reduced these values to zero and the labels printed fine.

I don't know if this will help others but I thought I'd share this tip.

Why has the print for my a very labels suddenly gone crazy and not aligning the labels.
It starts out aligned then gradually moves the print up and in so that only the first row of labels can be used, the remainder have moved up so that parts are outside of the cut label.
I have wasted sheets of labels and ink.
Why oh why, what has happened????
I use the Avery app on my iPad to a HP Photosmart 5520. I keep all the software current.
I've been using the labels for over a year without a problem, last month when I had to print more I was shocked to find them misaligned.
Have tried two styles of labels square and oblong and both have this creep.
How do I remedy this?
Only the label numbered 1 in the photo is aligned now, previously all were.

Disappointed with Avery

By apothecary king

This review is from AVERY How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?:

Very disappointed with Avery. I have used their products for years and love the vast array of templates available. However, I cannot get my labels to print properly. I have tried to realign after printing on plain paper, but it doesn't help. For some reason regardless of the product # I use, everything prints fine for the first half of the page and then for each row of labels after that the alignment is off. If I use a MAC the printout is different than from a PC using the same printer, but still the alignment is off. Both laser and inkjet printers were used, with similar results.

Don't Waste Time Printing

By btw

This review is from AVERY How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?:

These dividers are great if you just want to handwrite the information for the tabs. However, if you want to type them and make your dividers look professional DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. The alignment tool online is not accurate no matter how many times I manipulated it. I ended having to make my own template on Word.

Goodbye Avery!

By Lauren

from Maryland

This review is from AVERY How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?:

I am a small business owner and rely on Avery labels, I print them from my home. Well not anymore!!! Something changed within the last month and NOTHING will align. I have wasted COUNTLESS amounts of my time and money on labels. I am SO frustrated, my business is suffering because of this. I cannot rely on a company like this. Like the hundreds of other terrible reviews, add mine to the list.

This review is from AVERY How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?:

first time i used these it was fine.. but the last two efforts were off line. It would be easier to design a card if there was an area to put the text info before trying to place it on the card.... so it could be more easily sized, worded, etc
