How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?

You can try these things:

  • Print on both a plain sheet of paper and your label or card sheet. Compare the sheets to check alignment.
  • Change the printer properties to “label” or “heavyweight” in the print dialog box. When you click Print and choose your printer, click on the Properties button and look on the menu for Paper options.
  • If using Avery Design & Print Online, use the Make a Printer Adjustment option on the print page. This will allow you to shift the printing up, down or to the side. View demo.
  • If using Microsoft® Word, adjust the columns or rows by clicking on the border and dragging it to a new position.
  • For additional help, go to our Help Center and choose Printing under General Help.

A few years ago I had no printing alignment issues...but Adobe Reader keeps updating ...and browers update and then things don't work like they used to! I am having a terrible time getting my labels to print in the center using Avery online printing solutions and Firefox and Adobe Reader. I tried everything. Today I found using IE (not chrome) prints the labels in the center with NO issues! Who'd of thought!

I purchased the textured white print-to-the-edge arched labels (22809) and was excited to use them with the template I had designed using Avery's online tool.

Unfortunately I ruined two sheets of labels because the online template and the actual product have different spacing between labels.

Online template: 1/8" vertically, 7/16" horizontally

Actual product: 1/4" vertically, 1/2" horizontally

I ensured that I turned off the "Fit to page" option and that I was using the correct template for the product. Now I have to find a computer that has Microsoft Word on it so that I can download the template and see if that works better than the online printing wizard.

I'm so frustrated. Not only were the labels expensive, I've now lost 1/5 of the product due to poor software design on Avery's website and several hours of my time trying to troubleshoot. This is a terrible user journey!

I don't understand how using the Avery website and Avery paper, my labels are coming out all over the place. There is no consistency amongst labels on the same page. Along with most of the people here, I have wasted numerous hours, labels and ink trying to get the labels to print correctly. I am a small business owner and am going to lose business by my product looking unprofessional.

Alignment issues with Microsoft Windows 10

    By Spinner

    from Sudbury, Suffolk, UK

This review is from AVERY How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?:

I'm using Windows 10, Word and selected in labels Avery L7161. Everything appeared fine on the screen but when printing the top row of labels was OK but all the rest had 'crept' up the page, making the labels useless. After trying various different things, I went to Print, page setup, Layout where I noticed there was a measurement set for headers and footers. I reduced these values to zero and the labels printed fine.

I don't know if this will help others but I thought I'd share this tip.

After spending hours and hours in Pages (Mac OSX equivalent of MS Word), I was still getting messed up labels, despite using Avery's templates.

I tried it using this online tool, and though I had to shift the content down a little bit (making it look wrong in the preview), I can finally print my @#$% labels within the margins, and without unwanted borders (yes, borders were all shut off in Pages)

    Not Worth the Time

This review is from AVERY How do I get the printing to align properly on the page?:

I have spent hours over the past year trying to figure out how to get the printer to align with the label. It never works. I end up wasting a ridiculous amount of labels and end up giving up. I own a photography business and would like to have a nice looking label on my products, not gonna happen. I now handwrite every single label.
