Avery Products Launches New Line of UltraDuty GHS Chemical Labels and Free GHS Wizard Software

Avery Products Corporation, the leading manufacturer of printable labels and cards, announced today the launch of Avery UltraDuty™ GHS Chemical Labels, a new line of heavy-duty industrial labels that help organizations comply with the OSHA-mandated Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The United Nations created the GHS to standardize and harmonize the classification and labeling of hazardous chemicals around the globe. As defined by OSHA, chemical producers in the U.S. should be using GHS labels as of June 1, 2015. Chemical distributors have until December 1, 2015, and end-users of chemicals should update workplace labels by June 1, 2016.

UltraDuty GHS Chemical Labels are specifically designed to withstand chemicals, abrasion, sun, water, tearing and extreme temperatures. With high-performance adhesive, the labels pass the BS5609 Sec. 2 protocol for 90-day seawater immersion. For overseas shipping where IMDG certification is required, Avery UltraDuty GHS labels are also BS5609 Section 3 certified for print durability on specific desktop printers. For a list of BS5609 Section 3 approved printers, visit avery.com/GHSWizard.

The labels adhere to metal, plastic, painted surfaces, fiber, polycarbonate, glass and other materials. They’re available in a variety of sizes to identify hazardous materials in containers such as drums, totes, pails, jugs and bottles. The labels are also great to use as OSHA safety signs, arc flash, tank, marine and other workplace labels.

GHS and workplace safety labels are simple to create and print on demand using the free templates and software from Avery. Designs are available for GHS, ANSI, NFPA, DOT and more. The free Avery GHS Wizard walks users through the process of creating a GHS label including compliant GHS pictograms and statements. It’s also easy to customize labels with a company logo, barcode, lot numbers and other important information, with no download required.

“Labeling chemicals properly is a critical component of GHS, as well as for worker safety,” said Colwin Chan, Senior Product Manager for Avery Products. “Our UltraDuty™ GHS Chemical Labels are designed to withstand chemicals and harsh conditions. And with the free Avery software, users can quickly customize and print GHS labels right from their desk.”

Avery UltraDuty GHS Chemical Labels and the no cost Avery GHS Wizard make it easy to design and print ultra durable GHS labels on demand, helping companies and workers identify and track chemical containers, creating a safer work environment for everyone.
