To be perfectly honest, I initially attempted to format my address labels using this template without following all of the printing instructions. Concerned that solely using the template with MS Word's default printing settings would result in formatting issues (i.e. alignment, etc.), I re-read the "Basic Printing Tips" on the back one of the sheets of labels and noticed that more help regarding printing issues could be found at "http://avery.com/printingtips"

I opened the "Basic Printing Tips" .pdf document and found further detailed instructions under the heading, "Avery Templates in Microsoft Word." It was there I realized that my initial assumption regarding printing setting was incorrect and that one is supposed to do the following:
In the menu bar:

>Click on "Tools"
>Follow: "Letters and Mailings"
>Click on "Envelopes and Labels"

Once that menu window is displayed, all you have to do is:
>Click "Labels" tab
>Click "Options" button
>Under Printer Information
>Select "Laser and ink jet"
>Under "Label Information":
>Change the "Label products" setting to "Avery standard"
>Scroll through "Product number" list and select the appropriate product number
>Note: The "Product number" refers to the 4-digit template number rather than the 5-digit package number
>Click "OK"
>Click "New Document"

...and viola! It automatically adjusts the whole sheet and address label fields to the correct size for your particular label sheet. Now all that's left to do is create!

I've been using these labels for a very long time. Once you could simply pull up multiple Templates in MS Word. Now you have few choices available, including no blank templates (which I prefer), and when you take the extra time to make them blank yourself, they still don't print right and you end up wasting money on pages.
Also, when you try to go through this website and download the correct blank template, they try to force the ask toolbar with the template download. This is almost as bad as forced McAffee downloads. I'm tired of big business making things harder and not easier.

Just let us fill it online. Instead, you don't even let download the template, unless you jump through hoops.

I downloaded and opened template in Pages on my mac and have no idea what to do next. Every year I struggle with this and it takes me hours to figure it out. I am so frustrated. Where can I find instructions on what to do next?

I lost my copy of Design Pro 5.5 due to a hard drive failure. I had been using Design Pro for almost 10 years. Never had any problems. Use to spend about 800.00 a year in labels.
Now I have tried loading just the blank template into word 2013 and 2016 and will not load.
        So sad!!
No longer will interface with .dbo files, so I had to say goodbye to Avery labels and avery software.

Purchased a brother label printer. Now I am back in business.
Avery thank you for 10 years of service. Wish you the best.
        Goodbye.

Seems like a lot of frustrated reviews. All I can tell you is I downloaded the 8160 Word for Mac template several years ago and have been using it ever since. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Every year there's my Christmas card list waiting to be printed. Because it's a Word document it's easy to edit and I can change font properties like size and color.

I don't like messing with the graphic because it goofs up the spacing. I've been using the wreath design - wish you would offer a few more like a Christmas tree or ornament perhaps. How about a Cardinal or other bird?

        New Template

I don't think I can make you understand how much I hate this... For many years I have used avery 1860 labels for labeling photos in my work. I had a very simple template on my PC that I was able to use to accomplish everything I needed. Now that template has disappeared from my computed and when I go to your site to replace it I find this massive program which is impossible to understand or use. Can I please have my old simple template back? Why on earth do you think that complicated is better?
