I can't understand all the negative reviews. Using the downloadable Windows installer for my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit machine, it works like a charm. It could be slightly more intuitive; however, it is easy to figure out if you ever used any type of labeling or greeting card software in the past (just two of many I've bought and used are Art Explosion Pro, Hallmark software, etc). Not quite as robust as Art Explosion, of course, but for free software it is quite the deal.

The program does allow me to save my address label projects (have not tried a greeting card yet, but will update once I do). It does allow reopening saved project files with no problem other than having to look at the bottom center of the Open a Saved Project tab screen once the program launches to see the correct link (middle center defaults to your online Avery account - not a deal breaker for me either way, but do prefer local machine storage as I backup regularly via Macrium Reflect free edition and Google drive).

Also, truthfully, the program does take a little longer to save and open a project than it really should, as I am using an AMD FX-6300 MHz processor, which normally blazes through whatever I through at it...this is the first program that has a several second delay when saving and opening, as well as when printing. But for free, can't complain too much.

I was ready to run when I saw the reviews, but past experience (about 8 years ago I think) with Avery software helped take a gamble, and it was well worth the roll of the dice. And did I mention, it is free?

This software is missing features that were available in DesignPro. You can no longer specify where, on the physical page, the printing should start. You can no longer specify to print multiple copies of a given label on the same page. I am currently shopping for an alternative and am open to suggestions. In the meantime, I have to keep one computer on Windows 7 just to print labels.

This review is from Avery Design & Print:

Can only rate 4* for now because I have only used it once to make a greeting card so far but just doing that has gave me a very good first impression. It looks very versatile with many different uses. I had no issues at all when created the greeting card and no issues when exploring the software for the other possible projects I will probably be using it for. My only very small negative is that in my personal opinion the software visual design looks a little dated now in the modern world of Windows 10 but this is only a very small personal point and the software is in my mind the best you will ever find for what is a free to use program.

    Nice software, easy to use

    By Lili

    from Macon, GA

    Pros

    • Aligns Perfectly On Paper
    • Easy To Customize
    • Easy To Navigate
    • Easy To Use

    Cons

    • Can't Change Kerning
    • Can't Change Leading

    Best Uses

This review is from Avery Design & Print:

Downloaded fast, installation was super quick (Mac). Easy to learn to use and printed perfectly onto the sticker sheet. Only thing I did not like was the type formatting. I could not change leading (space between lines) and kerning (space between letters). Other than that, worked great and I highly recommend the software.

Doesn't import Design Pro templates properly

      By Scott

      from Minneapolis, MN

This review is from Avery Design & Print:

When I open a Design Pro 5 template (5 bank tab labels) the first entry populates the entire page. Design Pro lets me enter a single row which populates the remaining rows. Design&Print requires me to enter all 10 rows (50 entries vs. 5 entries). The old software is more useful. DesignPro has an error in Win10 but it still works so I won't spend the time to remake all my templates.
