I can't understand all the negative reviews. Using the downloadable Windows installer for my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit machine, it works like a charm. It could be slightly more intuitive; however, it is easy to figure out if you ever used any type of labeling or greeting card software in the past (just two of many I've bought and used are Art Explosion Pro, Hallmark software, etc). Not quite as robust as Art Explosion, of course, but for free software it is quite the deal.

The program does allow me to save my address label projects (have not tried a greeting card yet, but will update once I do). It does allow reopening saved project files with no problem other than having to look at the bottom center of the Open a Saved Project tab screen once the program launches to see the correct link (middle center defaults to your online Avery account - not a deal breaker for me either way, but do prefer local machine storage as I backup regularly via Macrium Reflect free edition and Google drive).

Also, truthfully, the program does take a little longer to save and open a project than it really should, as I am using an AMD FX-6300 MHz processor, which normally blazes through whatever I through at it...this is the first program that has a several second delay when saving and opening, as well as when printing. But for free, can't complain too much.

I was ready to run when I saw the reviews, but past experience (about 8 years ago I think) with Avery software helped take a gamble, and it was well worth the roll of the dice. And did I mention, it is free?

This software is missing features that were available in DesignPro. You can no longer specify where, on the physical page, the printing should start. You can no longer specify to print multiple copies of a given label on the same page. I am currently shopping for an alternative and am open to suggestions. In the meantime, I have to keep one computer on Windows 7 just to print labels.

I think the negative reviews are nuts. I did not have a problem at all. (Except one time when I PUT IN the wrong set of address labels- oops- my BAD).
Thanks for letting me do this for FREE. I am so sick and tired of having to buy new programs every time a newer version of windows comes around and I have used a computer since the very first WINDOWS version! Again Thank You AVERY :) AND I use your labels all the time!

    • When Nothing Better

This review is from Avery Design & Print:

I cannot recommend this program. A job I thought would take 1 day, took the better part of 4. Everything went well until it came time to save and then print my project. I wasted a lot of paper and card stock trying to get the project to print correctly.
This program is fine in the design phase. And the colors were accurate. But if you're looking for an intuitive, easy platform, look elsewhere. Seriously pay attention to the negative reviews!

    Can't save or print

    Pros

    Cons

    • Freezes or Crashes
    • Pointless Wout Save

This review is from Avery Design & Print:

Easy to use the design part of it. But since saving doesn't save either online or on my computer, and trying to print caused a crash- there is no reason to use this. Just let us download a template into InDesign or Word. We'll still buy labels and you won't have to make software.

Was looking forward to creating DVD labels for our home movies and this program looked promising. Downloaded and installed in minutes but wouldn't start up past the white screen with the name at the top. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Same results. Repeated with same results. Uninstalled and deleted the download. Downloaded and installed a second time. Numerous attempts to start with the same result. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Finally gave up and deleted the download.

I personally don't understand the negative reviews. Yes, it takes a moment of "learning" how it operates but if I could figure it out.... anyone should be able to. I loved that I designed one and it populated the whole page but then I was able to edit each one individually and delete the ones I didn't need to print on the design page & the print page. Easy to add my own pictures and text boxes were easy to format. MY question is.... can we format for vertical lettering? Will have to look for that. Don't understand why some said it doesn't print multiple pages. I clearly had the option to print as many as I wanted. Thanks Avery for making your label templates available on my computer without needing internet access!!
